alex my heart is so with you. im glad to hear from you on here. i have been thinking of you lots and lots and often and with so much love. i love you so. i hope everyday is easier. or more fun. or better tasting. or…something. something like full of love.
i did love being in nyc, but am very happy to be back in sf as well. i guess im just a fickle sort. (oh really!? i think thats sadly the most obvious thing about my life!) my sf night last night gave some of my nyc nights a run for their money.
sushi at the palace hotel served with GOLD flakes on it. really. yes. gold. i think i ate about ten dollars worth of gold at dinner.
at the hotel, there was some event and people were wearing ballgowns and tuxes and just the most over the top clothes imaginable. i wanted to ask someone where they were coming or going from, but for some reason was simply transfixed by the sight and never asked. i did ask my cabdriver if he knew, and he said ‘no. i was no invited.’ ha!
i then saw dan hicks and his hot licks at yoshi’s jazz club downtown. he was funny, grumpy, and irreverent. and he made fun of christmas a lot.
here is one of his xmas songs with a really really odd video:
after the concert there was a turkish jazz band playing at the bar, wearing skeleton masks. at one point they played ‘when the saints come marching in’, and i felt like all was right in the world.
there was more, i dont remember, it was such a visual, musical night.
now its nearing the holidays and i am so happy that i have something to do on christmas eve and day and the day after and new years eve and new years day. i was scared about being out here by myself, without family and close friends. but i am building a new life around me here, filled with beautiful amazing people who, thankfully, like to have parties:)
now im off to make a top to go with my sequined skirt for the raw food restaurant’s holiday party i was invited to, which has an 80s theme…. !!!
