over the weekend, i went to a great event in SF that has been going on for 10 years… but it was my first time there, being new to the city. its called ‘hardly strictly bluegrass’ and tons of great performers play for free, on many stages and over the course of three days.
i saw bonnie prince billy (will oldham), emmy lou harris, elvis costello, a bunch of others including the lead singer from faith no more playing an amazing set in italian-punk style: mike patton’s amazing group Mondo Cane…
and i saw patti smith, who was outstanding, and said during one of her interludes, while talking about how great SF is “it’s your life. live your life. have fun.” and i kept hearing that echoing in my brain all day, and for days.
another weekend that made me love SF more and more 🙂
and, i turn 29 tomorrow. nearing the end of my 20’s. ek. its been a good run. glad i fit moving to the west coast (and going to BM, too!) in before it was too late. i mean, its never too late… but sometimes its later than we think 😉 lets see if i can africa and india before 30…
ENJOY THIS DAY!! and tmrw, send me thoughts of balloons and love on my one and only birthdaayyyyy please ❤
