HELLO HELLO HELLO! goodbye! /alexander/
Well, I understand you saying there is not much going on… I like that, and there is nothing to write and your bored on the internet and not feeling like sharing all the crap on the web!
I have A LOT going on!
It’s Thursday… tomorrow I will make a last trip to the storage barn we packed in the snow 2 months ago. I’m downsizing what I have here so I only have light car load to Portland. I’m also going to AAA to hit them up for free maps because I’ll be driving in areas I need maps.. no iPhone will save me there.
Saturday my friend from SF comes for a couple nights… and Sunday is a big cocktail party at the house with my parents… its a belated birthday, a going away party for me, and a belated wake for the recently put-to-sleep cat you met, Claude.
and MONDAYMONDAYMONDAY… I fill up my car, my cat, my life and take off for Portland. I’ll probably split the 12 hour drive into 2 days, not that I couldn’t make the haul, but I’d like to get in Tuesday at lunch and have the day to deal with my whole new world!
And, where am I going? Not even to my friends until we get our house April… I’m going to live the month of march in this old house that for years has been running a vintage clothing company out of the building and is now downsizing so have turned a few offices back into bedrooms for temporary stays… will be like a month in a cool hotel with cool business owners and still kitchen, etc…. so great!
This came today…….. these people must be in love with their jobs, but also pretty bored during the other 11 months of the year….. yes, it’s only 6 months to Burning Man 09.
OK, you ready for this? You sitting down? In a mere matter of DAYS,
it’s going to be the Burnal Equinox. That’s our (possibly overly-
clever) name for the exact midpoint between Burns. So think about
that … while it seems like just yesterday we were huffing copious
amounts of playa dust (not entirely by choice), here we are suddenly,
fast approaching the proverbial hump day of the Burnal Year. After
the 28th, it’s full speed ahead down the other side of the slope,
hurtling inexorably back towards Black Rock City.
Frankly, in the midst of all this daunting news about the global
economy, when it feels like things are spinning out of control,
Burning Man can start to feel small in the grand scheme of
priorities. But this is exactly when Burning Man becomes more
relevant than ever. If nothing else, the experience of Black Rock
City reminds us that we’re capable of standing undaunted in the face
of challenge, cultivating creativity in the teeth of necessity, and
reinventing ourselves to go beyond limitations that are discovered to
be merely figments of the imagination, as we learn to survive — and
thrive — in one of the harshest environments on the planet.

Isn’t that kind of beautiful?

I’ve been playing too much with my iPhone.. so here are some things….
NO APOSTROPHES! HAHA, so rural Nevada!

What the fuck is this supposed to be??? Legal, liquid coke?

And then is always my friend…..

THE langley school music project…. (from A)
Suzy, I feel like I have shared this with you, but if I did, it would have been way pre-blog days and I would have played it for you face-to-face in my apartment in Philadelphia…
The Langley School Music Project is a an album that was uncovered in the 90s. A hip music teacher circa 1977’s in the Vancouver area recorded an album of his grade schoolers singing … Space Oddity, Beach Boys, Beatles…. Desperado makes me cry! I have the CD if you ever would like… here is some info and music…!
star of slumdog millionaire somehow affected my sunday night {by suzy}
so i had a great photoshoot on sunday night with george pitts… who took the only semi-sensual pics of the female star of slumdog millionaire. and… his phone keeps ringing because people want to buy them, since s.m. won all the oscars. he is probably going to make a ton of money from them. and meanwhile, he turns his phone off, we have a photoshoot, and we dont watch the oscars at all.
it was a great shoot and i feel like he and i made wonderful art. it is good to walk away from a shoot feeling like that.
and, he rented a cool hotel room on the upper west side for it, so i got to stay there sunday night. wake up monday and take a long bath and pretend i lived in a modern, huge apartment in an expensive neighborhood. and that was enough to start my day right, and i was ready to get back to brooklyn.
i had acupuncture yesterday, and my doctor did the most amazing thing to find out where i had weakness or stress in my body. she touched a certain organ or part of me while pressing down on my arm. i was supposed to resist her pressing. and it was very easy to, until she got to a part of my body where that was stresses, and my arm went right down. she then had me hold the herbs she wanted to give me for treatment. when i held them, i was able to keep my arm up.
its hard to explain, and i know it also sounds fake in a way, but it was very real and amazing.
and now i am off to work.
oh>>>
and then this, is, interesting to me
Coffins’ Arrival From War Becomes an Issue Again
By KATHARINE Q. SEELYE
Pentagon officials reconsidering the ban on news coverage of coffins arriving from Iraq and Afghanistan are studying the media policies of other countries.
Starbucks?
Suzy, because you posted that pic of ‘original’ starbucks and also said, first of 9billion and counting, I had to do some research….
Starbucks is the largest coffeehouse company in the world, with 15,756 stores in 44 countries.

SUZY, HELP –byalexander
You Guys, HELP ME! I’m just sitting here scratching my head because I JUST can’t figure out what I should wear to the Academy Awards tonight???!!!
modern medicine (by alex)
Suzy,
I haven’t been posting because my dad’s been in the hospital… ambulance ride yesterday as I followed. A scary ride, but upon seeing him “Dad, what the fuck?”. ”Oh, you know I just felt like a ride in an ambulance”. Really, was some chest pain that turned out to be very little of anything wrong. The family has GREAT hearts, by the way.
SPent the past days in and out of there, helping eat the yucky food and watching the economy fall apart on TV. Its been actually not bad. But, I tell you, older people like my dad complain so much about how awful the doctors and nurses are and nobody gives a shit about you and I had to explain, this is MODERN MEDICINE. There are far too many people on this planet for western medicine to be anything personal. Long over are the days of knowing your doctor, or him coming to you house. Long over is all that. To, us, its just the people who know how to work the machines that fix us. And that is it. They might be nice, sweet, caring, but they are there to plug us back in when we break. And then charge us a lot for it.
Anyway, I eat green stuff so, I’ll be fine, eh?
tax hell {suzy}
i waited way too long and paid someone way too much to do my annoying, yet pretty simple, taxes.
and dont i get home, check the mail, and find that while i was gone the one 1099-MISC that i had waited forever for had come while i was at the accountants? fuck.
blah blah b;ahhhhh am i really old and boring enough to blog about taxes?
here are some seattle pics. ryan is so much more photogenic than i am!! how ironic, huh? engineer v. part time somewhat model… i guess he is just cuter: )
NOTE: the captions messed up, but i dont feel like going into the code and figuring out what went wrong. you can still figure out how to read them!

in the space needle, high above seattle!

this sort of looks like it was a family vacation, which reinforces my old and boringness. ha. and now leahs coming over soon and at least there will be no talk of weddings, but possibly honeymoons and married life. yeesh! some nights im 17 and some days im 45… i guess.
oh, last but least> look, southwest and god (same person?) wanted me to blog:
thursday yet- thursday already (suzy)
is it thursday yet, is it thursday already? both are competing thoughts i have…
