world/alex/ all:

i am home! it was great! i am at work, eating a huge spinach salad at my desk for lunch.

i will upload some pics tonight, along w some stories, etc: )

thanks for posting those wedding picture- i love them!

i saw heidi yesterday!! <3 <3

it was so nice. the only bad thing that happened on the whole entire trip happened there; ryan locked the keys in the trunk just as we were putting our bags in the car to leave. i said to ryan- – thats so weird that this happened now, seeing as nothing bad happened at all! and he said, its bc we arent supposed to be ending our trip… its a sign.     i think he was right.

but, end it we had to, and now he is in southern maryland and i am home. all is well, though i have to admit traveling puts an inch in me to always keep going. which is why i do, i guess.

ok- check back later on for pics and stories that are all full of LOVE LOVE LOVE

suzy, wedding photos.

are you back somewhere? anywhere?

alexander is home, home, home

Posted in Uncategorized by andwelove on 23 October 2008

(Do you remember when Geena Davis’ character in Beetle Juice exclaims: HOME HOME HOME! in order to get them out of the model and back to reality?  Love it.)

That was me the past few days, weeks, months, since ever.

Jon left me a voicemail that I wish I could record and play on here.  Too complicated.  It goes:

“Where are you?  New York?   LA?   Bangor?   San Francisco?   Wyoming?   Nevada? … (trailing),   Burning Man?….   London?   ….  Australia, New Zealand…?  (trailing…..),   Iraq….?   …   Iran?   ……  Northern Korea?”

I just did my favorite thing of going to the Farmer’s Market – totally loaded up, then a stop off at Trader’s for the typical wine, cat food, cheese …..  Today I roasted red peppers.  First time at that.  They are cooling in a brown paper bag, as directed, before being peeled and doused with oil, garlic, crushed red pepper, cilantro and salt.  MMM MMM, right?

Learned an amazing recipe for Portuguese Kale Soup – making it Saturday for, YES, movies in the cemetery, this weeks screening:  CARRIE  !   A little soup, cheese and wine in the grass surrounded by the dead!  Perfect!

Boo!

HEY, PLAY THIS FAVORITE *KINGS OF CONVENIENCE* SONG AS I CONTINUE.

How are your road travels going?  What a great part of the country, up there in New England.  I have a friend in Boston I am so behind in visiting.

Suzy, I just spent a fast $25 bucks on half.com, all about food, food, food.  I am becoming consumed.  I think for my stay in LA, I should just start working at a health food store.  Is the below me, a college grad?  Sounds so peaceful though.

and

Half.com IS SO CHEAP AND WONDERFUL!

SO, MY TRIP …..

First of all, regarding New York:

Something about Brooklyn is always so enchanting to me.  It must come from the place in addition to my great times there.  I’m always so turned off by the big city, rushing out of Penn Station over to the Herald Square Subway and onto the B and into Park Slope.  HURRY HURRY!   But it was wonderful and crisp and fall and yellow and pumpkins and scarves, hats.   I may, may, may be dressed as Santa or at least in attendance for the Park Slope caroling come Christmas.  Must join me!

Maybe I could just come to New York and be part of the movie making there?  But Leah didn’t like it, why would I?

And New York comes with such insanity.  I see too many weird things in one viewing to take it all in.  I don’t like that overwhelmed feeling.  I’m sure I would adjust come a life there, but still.  And also, when I’m tramping through New York, I am always carrying bags and shit on my back and I can’t just breeze up the street.  I’m in a constant obstacle course and one wrong turn my big pack could knock a little old guy down to the ground.

And what’s with such large handfuls of people on the trains asleep or nodding off.  And I mean ALL.  DAY.  6AM or 5PM or late at night.  Why are you all so tired all the time?   Does NY drain one that much?

And, also, I find in NY I am so preoccupied with PHONE WALLET KEYS WALLET PHONE ID PHONE ID WALLET KEYS.  It’s a constant check that I haven’t lost any valuables on train seats, cabs, bar tops.    Such stress!

I have to tell you that Virgin America isn’t a bad flight at all.  (It is in JFK’s terminal 4 that is international and full of Duty Free shops, but NO BARS?!?!?!?)   The flight was filled with some still British speaking flight attendants and of course cute gay ones.  They aren’t dressed all stuffy.   The safety videos are full of funky graphics and hip music.  The personal computer actually tracks the flight with Google Maps – a huge plus to me.   And you use the computer to swipe a credit card and push some buttons and the cute gay boy shops up with a vodka tonic.   COOL!

So anyway, I am back to the land of Hollywood, land of fresh cheap produce, expensive gas, warm warm days and just lovely evenings.  I’m back for a while.  My cat can get used to me being home.  I can track down my favorite yoga instructors again.  I can also work, work, job, something, money, work.   Hopefully.  Pray for me, all.

I know.  Where am I?  What’s the date?  I have neglected you, my blog.

It’s a Tuesday (I think).  My last day East.  And also my last day on this pile of trips, these months of airports, suitcases.

The weather dampens and cools in Pennsylvania and I realize my to que to return west, to work, to settle back into my gardening and cooking and friends and yoga and LA-life.

THAT’S RIGHT – ALEX WILL WRITE FROM THE ACTUAL CITY OF LOS ANGELES.

It’s a Tuesday, for sure and I am off to have lunch with an aunt in Montclair, NJ and then take the train into Brooklyn, where I will see some more fabulous family and niece and nephew.  Suzy, you won’t be there in Park Slope this time around.  Instead, oddly, your passing through some place called California, MD.  We MUST one day make a fun blog about alllll the places we’ve been and somehow make it parallel and chronilogical to each other.  Might be funny looking.

Tomorrow, my first use of Virgin America from JFK to LAX and then

THAT

IS

THAT.

(Unless I go to SF for Halloween.  Jesus.)

sorry for no new posts, world~!

suzy here, in California, Maryland (i kid you not). alex and i are both in cars or in transit or for sure not at our homes. however, we will write when we can: )

i have some pictures from the wedding and also from a farm i was at in southern maryland that raises BUFFALO! wow. can you believe that.

i have to go now and call a place in stowe, vermont that has gondolas- to make sure they are currently running. we want to ride one so we can see all the views and leaves! yeah!

i would rather

Posted in Uncategorized by suzyloves on 16 October 2008

sometimes

i would rather read about a movie than watch it

take a picture of a meal than eat it

daydream about a country than visit

but dont worry. i am very fond of living, too.

there are just some things i like to do in a less direct way.

and, as an example of how i do live life, in case you were thinking i dont live life: since i love fall leaves, i am taking a roadtrip of the east coast the see the colors. i will post 9 million pictures once i am back, and, maybe during, too.

dear world, from the monday after

Posted in Uncategorized by andwelove on 13 October 2008

Hi Suzy and Everyone!

It’s the Monday after the party/bars/driving/weekend/wedding/hotel/driving/sleeping.

What a time!  Wouldn’t you say?  Leah and Jay hitched the knot and did all that usual crap that people do.  And we joined in with so much friends and fun to watch.  (Well, some people missed it and I feel bad I jumped in that cab so fast.)

I never drank so much beer, really.  Did you still do ok with no gin and tonics available?

I love your photos below and your new work.  You briefly showed me something on your small camera at the reception.  And I commented that there must be a small silver digital camera in the pockets of every single folk there.  Suzy says, “That’s what we do.  We’re white, middle class people with digital cameras.”

Sorry I missed the ride back with you yesterday to Brooklyn.  I honestly needed the extra hour of sleep as well as, I think, to end the weekend of craziness.  God knows what would have happened had I started another night in NY.  So I hitched with some folks to Philly and my mother made the trek to come and get me.  I had a much more restful night watching Dexter and laying on a familiar couch, for once.  Today, I saw “Burn After Reading” AGAIN, and loved it, AGAIN.  With mom.  We were hilarious laughing in the theatre.

Tomorrow a 10-hour road trip to Indianapolis.  Leaving at 4AM and returning late Thursday.  You must be gearing up for your longer, east coast road trip.  Will we ever stop.  I think the news about your apartment, room mates, and rent IS a sure sign to hit the road.  Sell your things, put stuff in NJ and traveltravelmodellive.  I’ll go find a house in the NW US somewhere that is cheap and has some extra space for you when you need.

Lots and lots of internet to catch up on, but it will be in while, I’m sure.

I LOVED seeing you, me, Leah, everyone together so briefly.  And I hope we can throw a party sometime over the holidays and get us all together.

other loving, cool things…..

Check out this wonderful story from San Francisco about a first grade class that went to their teachers lesbian wedding as a field trip.  Of course folks are up in arms.  Right or wrong, up in arms or not; I fucking love our modern times.  Well, and California!   And hey, the kids look happy!

Oh, I just booked my first American based Virgin Airlines flight from JFK to LAX for my return home next week.  I’m so excited to ride them.  Will the flight attendants speak with an accent?

hmmm…

a bunch of people googled my name yesterday to get to this site. weird, no?

secretly famous suzy …

was it you googling, alex??

it was great and perfect to see you, of course. the wedding was really fun ! and i didnt get too too drunk or do anything really stupid. so, it was a success! a personal success. haha.

so, the roadtrip is now east coast, as you know, instead of west coast. pleeaseeeee come hang out w heidi and ryan and i. it will be groundbreaking, i do think.

what else is new? not much. work is going to be killer the next two days, i think. well, tomorrow at least, and then maybe, hopefully hopefully smooth on wed… im working on one of our biggest projects. its stressful, but the cool part is that it launches on wed, and i leave for my trip on thurs. so, phew! then i can take a break from it for a week! yessss

i will post a pic of us from the weddding soon.

send me yours, i want to see! mine were dull ; )
