greetings from los angeles, where the sky has gone a tint of brown, the air feels coarse and itchy and the sunsets each afternoon in echo park are the most beautiful to date.   elsewhere, there is tragedy, but assuring you all that my work, home, and world is mostly normal.

october has been something else.  and i saw it coming.  after jon left, 2 splendid loves from san francisco come down for an extended aids walk celebration that mostly included a lot of long and fun evenings, catching up, laughing and a little walking as well.   all was good.  and tomorrow i will awake on an airplane as it touches ground in new york city…  how exciting and worldly is my life.  not to mention the same dinky jansport bookbag i have been dragging all over the world for years, refusing to check anything.  (i hope someone has shampoo for me).

suzy, i will see you briefly on sunday.  you are ALL invited into the rental car ride from city to upstate.  I will join you and bring lots of smiles and dancing.  JUST DON’T MESS UP CAUSE I MUST BE AT WORK ON MONDAY. THANKS.

Someone Should Start Laughing

I have a thousand brilliant lies
For the question:

How are you?

I have a thousand brilliant lies
For the question:

What is God?

If you think that the Truth can be known
From words,

If you think that the Sun and the Ocean

Can pass through that tiny opening Called the mouth,

O someone should start laughing!
Someone should start wildly Laughing –Now!

How can a heart expression find?

Posted in Uncategorized by suzyloves on 22 October 2007
Speak not, lie hidden, and conceal
the way you dream, the things you feel.
Deep in your spirit let them rise
akin to stars in crystal skies
that set before the night is blurred:
delight in them and speak no word.
How can a heart expression find?
How should another know your mind?
Will he discern what quickens you?
A thought once uttered is untrue.
Dimmed is the fountainhead when stirred:
drink at the source and speak no word.
Live in your inner self alone
within your soul a world has grown,
the magic of veiled thoughts that might
be blinded by the outer light,
drowned in the noise of day, unheard…
take in their song and speak no word.

this morning.  which isn’t unusual just, appreciated!

sometimes in the morning, i follow such a simple looking movement that to me feels more like an elaborate dance:

eyes open, toss, turn, adjust.
eyes open again, and arise and dance.
and move and sway in and out of all the rooms,
the different temperatures, water, air and sun.
sounds only of animals,
children and their mothers…

it’s friday, which matters if you work in an office.

“Seeing yourself in print is such an amazing concept: you can get so much attention without having to actually show up somewhere . . .You don’t have to dress up, for instance, and you can’t hear them boo you right away.” – Anne Lamott “Struggle to sketch the flow that already exists intact in mind.” – Jack Kerouac

yes, yes, yes, howcome?!

Posted in Uncategorized by andwelove on 17 October 2007

yes, howcome anything, everything?
(of course as we speak i realize it is 9:18 and i am needed somewhere in 6 minutes.  i will return to this exact same thought  in just an hour…..)

OKAY!..  11am!   GOOD MORNING… oooo ooo ooohoooo

check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a15KgyXBX24

SOOOOOO SUZY, FRIENDS, STRANGERS(alsofriends)…..   the time is upon us.  what time?  all time.. everything, all things good and possible are here TODAY in all of our hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its fucking true so be happy and optimistic and everyone you pass by will know this about you and maybe feel the same way.

Old pal Jon had his visit.. we were very hollywood… tv tapings, Ellen, comedy shows, laughter, wine in santa barbara and all the fillings of visiting zander in southern cal.   (SUZY!!!!!)   this weekend more visitors… from SF.. its the LA AIDS WALK — still time to donate… put in my name on the aids walk.org page… easy, easy!

The Writers Guild of Am. is very very very close to a crucial strike (well granted: in the last decade of new mediums… dvd, internet, etc… all the studios make mucho profits off their sales but aren’t sharing with the creatives… fuckers!)  however, a writers strike puts the entire tv industry to a halt.   many ?’s in the air of what would happen to all of our jobs or if it would be a long lasting strike (last one was in late 80s for 6 months and all new tv shows came to a standstill…. nowadays they can easily pump reality and game show crap.)    I know you don’t even watch much tv, and for that matter, nor do I sans some Family Guy reruns and such, but this could be pretty shitty…  also.. NO JON STEWART!?

In case of strike…  you know I’m on a plane to somewhere/anywhere….  a nice visit east would be great since the wedding next week is absolutely a rush in and out.  And then Xmas is a waste of time, we all know!  (In that it consists of no time, and those nonsense holiday days are entirely dedicated to family….)

It has been so long since I have written on here.  Every morning on my 18 minute car ride to work up route 5, passing Griffith Park on my left and the San Gabriel range on my right I think to myself all kinds of things to write about to you… by the time I’m at my desk and doing my day I get so uninterested! (Why?)  And I think that I wish I had some real tangible reason to write every day…  and then you would too.  Eh.   OR… an assistant in the back seat of my car taking notes as I dictate my blog.

DICTATE my blog????????????? Sheesh. 2007!

In the lull of my day I am going to attempt to plow through the rest of the Omnivore’s Dilemma today…  and when I am all finished I will  have a full list of highlights to write about… tons.  Or else it will make great drunk conversation with those that will listen to me go off about food and high fructose corn syrup and Nixon and all the shit he pulled that made us so so fat and awful and full of chemicals….. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY.
SMILE AT AT LEAST 3 STRANGERS.

and who’s life is this, is what i want to say

so many pairs of black underware on the floor in this room- where do they come from. i see two, three? is that sort of all i ever where in my boyfriends house?

red bull for breakfast. hanging out in a loft, in ny, with a band, who is famous, and about to go on tour.

how come i only want to write when i had to leave 5 minutes ago?

how come i really like nature but REALLY hate the rain.

how come i put on cheap make up that i bought in queens- goldlipgloss- and i am yet again going out to meet a man who is a stranger but will soon be taking photos of me, knowing my face better than i do. taking a piece of my photogenic soul.

how come the lip gloss – the smell of it- makes me feel like i am in junior high. going to meet an upper classman.

howcome. shortcoming.

interesting media report

Posted in Uncategorized by suzyloves on 1 October 2007

This project did something that has never been done before: It amassed data on the syndicated columnists published by nearly every daily newspaper in the country. While a few publications, most notably Editor & Publisher, cover the syndicated newspaper industry, no one has attempted to comprehensively assemble this information prior to now. Because the syndicates refuse to reveal to the public exactly where their columnists are published, when Media Matters for America set out to make a systematic assessment of the syndicated columnist landscape, we had no choice but to contact each paper individually and ask which syndicated columnists are published on their op-ed pages.

The results show that in paper after paper, state after state, and region after region, conservative syndicated columnists get more space than their progressive counterparts. As Editor & Publisher paraphrased one syndicate executive noting, “U.S. dailies run more conservative than liberal columns, but some are willing to consider liberal voices.”1
