There was a show picked up for the fall with Parker Posey – but it is a sitcom and that is a totally specific working enviornment that I just love… and they are fading away as we speak and I am so lucky to be working on that format of a show (think: good pay, perks, hours, fun….  ) and Posey’s show is going to unusually film in NY at the Kaufmann-Austoria studios…
I might have to come work on that show while I live in your hood for a year.   oh to dream of these things.

So I have this grand book I am filling up.. basically I have been writing down the gist or headline of articles I come across…and i find it an amazing thing to have.. like a news bible (I tend to forget most of it all, otherwise).. now I can do more research or forward info on..

-The demand for cage free eggs is growing so quickly they can not be produced to the right standards fast enough.  meanwhile, there standard for cage free is not clear – as large egg operations are allowed huge barns of “free roaming” chickens…  picture this gross mess.

-In India, there is a newfound interest in making and drinking fine wine.  Before, this was not a grape producing and wine making country… however, the impact of globalization along with the high social elite people of the country who travel….
Made me think: I know US and some Europe has extreme poor and extreme wealth within its borders… but we often think of many counties as merely poor and some middle class… south America, middle east, ….. yet India is known for such awful poverty living along side of extreme high life wealth.    true?

-The Chinese gov is implementing a tracking system that involves 20,000 surveillance cameras in major cities.  Most of this technology is to “stop crime” but obviously will infringe on many rights of the people.  Also mentionable that many of the technologies being used for this mass surveillance systems are ours… coming from folks at IBM, HP, Dell…..   man, America really does want to RULE THE FUCKING WORLD.

-It was released now that much of the information on Wikipedia has been altered by company PR firms – Exxon mobile dumbed down the facts about thies big spills, Pepsi changed facts about water quality …..

Did I tell you that I am trying to green my office…?  I got “company money” to shop at the good will (and some target) to get plates and bowls and cups and silverware… so that an office of merely 20 people can easily stop the waste of paper and plastic products that we go through by the bag full every day.  So fucking insane that people have a hard time simply eating with silverware and washing it.    And yet there are some not interested.   IN CALIFORNIA???

The new try’s for are show to be green are good (though some of it is a mere publicity stunt on the part of the studio)… however, anyone in film/tv production can tell you that water bottled litter sets like no other object… with a crew of over a hundred and a busy commotion in which no one can keep track of those open bottles that only have a few sips taken….  guess where all this water and plastic goes and the end of the day… ??  The show is not allowing water bottles on the set this year…. instead the entire crew will get personalized aluminum bottles.   Isn’t this great… well we’ll see how it goes over, anyway.
